sewing machines
does anyone have a brand/type they'd suggest?
Ive been using a new singer 4411 but it absolutely hates fur. Ive also been hearing alot of bad reviews with newer ones, so I might retire it to sewing normal stuff and maybe fixing my jeans.
I have a Kenmore 1400 built in the early 70s, its missing the bobbin housing and piece that fits in, but the whole thing is metal, and the machine itself weighs probably 40 pounds, and has a 1.2 amp motor. I dunno if thats powerful in the sewing machine world but I am able to run it (just not actually sew with it yet). its very smooth, quiet, not bad for a machine I got for $30 at a goodwill (I actually bought the table, didnt even know there was a sewing machine inside it until I got home.)
other options are a Phaff serger machine that Im looking at, an older Thompson with a built in walking foot, and a new Sailrite that a friend suggested. all around the $600-$700 dollar mark.
so just wondering, what do you guys use/suggest? ^^
